Cane Corso Dogs should be socialized early. The socialization phase is the most important phase in the dog's life. This phase covers the period from the end of the third week until 12 weeks. The socialization process should be carried on till puberty. However, it is the secondary socialization phase, which is also called the anxiety phase.
During the socialization, the puppies are introduced to a variety of situations in which they learn how to react and behave. Primary socialization should take place at the breeder's facility. When puppies come in contact with people and dogs of different breeds, they do not tend to perceive humans or dogs as danger in the future.
When pups come to their owner approximately at the age of 8 weeks, the owner has to go on with the socialization. The bus station, the train station, the market place, the playground, trash bags, etc. are the places the dog will have to visit. If the puppy sees or hears something new that scares him, the owner should not walk away with the pup or start comforting him. This behavior may reassure the puppy that this event is scary and threatening. The owner is advised to stay neutral and display a "nothing-is-wrong-here" attitude toward the event that is happening. Puppies learn very quickly and if you choose the right method, the results won't be long away. Cane Corsos are reported to be easy to socialize.
