Thanks to the efforts of enthusiasts, concern over the future of the breed raised and educational programs were launched to help preserve the breed.

The past of the breed is connected with Italy, a mother country of the breed, and Canis Pugnax, a huge dog known as the old Roman Molossian. The breed was used for livestock and property guarding and was rather common in Italy. The cane corso history of rescue usually includes the kennel locations.
